The scholarship is open to doctoral candidates doing research in Chinese studies with approved proposals in the humanities and social sciences.
Humanities and social sciences related to the Chinese studies are eligible. If you have any questions or would like to confirm your eligibility based on the topic of your dissertation project, feel free to send an email to chinatimescf@gmail.com.
Foreign students enrolled in an institution in the U.S. or Canada are eligible to apply. However, visiting scholars who are not enrolled in any U.S. or Canada schools are not eligible.
A total of two applicant will be awarded USD$10,000 in memory of our founder, Mr. Chi-Chung Yu and Mrs. Alice Tsai YuEight more selected applicants will receive the Young Scholar fellowship award in the amount of USD$7,000 each.

The project description in English should be 2,000-2,500 words and the project description in Chinese should be 2,000-2,500 characters.
If your school does not provide a letter stating that your dissertation prospectus is approved, you may ask the chair of your dissertation committee to provide a statement instead.
Only the project description needs to be in both English and Chinese. Other documents may be submitted in only English.
Recommendations MUST be emailed directly to chinatimescf@gmail.com on official letterhead with signature by your recommenders. Please make sure that the name your professors write in the subject line of their letter of recommendation email matches the name on your application form.
